Typical Activities for a 3-Day Retreat:
Exercise
Each
day you'll have the opportunity to walk, hike, run or simply spend time outdoors
in the fresh air and sunshine.*
Health Check
Learn about your general health, effects of stress and
identify any problems that may be developing.
One-on-One Coaching
This provides the opportunity to work with Kevin
Hutchinson to define your history, issues, personal goals and business goals
as well as your professional challenges. This is included in the individual
as well as the management team Idea Summits.
Group Coaching and Role Playing Exercises
For those attending a management
team conference, group coaching will be conducted in addition to individual
coaching. Dynamics of team interaction will be identified and areas for improvement
will be identified as well as ways to improve. Role playing can reveal areas
needing improvement but can also teach better ways to interact as a team.
Idea Development Strategies
Immerse in new ways of thinking to generate
ideas and strategies.
People Management Exercise
Learn how to move from
a ‘technician’ mentality
to a manager of people.
Verbal Communication
Techniques for communicating
verbally, saying what you mean in positive, helpful, morale-building ways;
techniques to ensure your communications are understood clearly.
Effective Listening
Simply
hearing words is not enough. To manage people effectively, you should learn
the skill of effective listening. This communication technique, combined with
verbal skills, will ensure that you spend less time communicating because you'll
understand and be understood the first time.
Written Communication
Everyone
can use better written communication skills. Combined with verbal communication
and listening skills, you'll be able to hone your writing skills to state exactly
what is important in every communication.
Dealing with Difficult People and Situations
This combines all three
communications skills to effectively manage difficult and sensitive situations.
You'll learn how to diffuse situations, prevent confrontations and other techniques
while getting the job accomplished.
White Paper and Feasibility Study
You'll learn to prepare a working
paper and feasibility study for your own project or a mock project.

will be created for your personal retreat.
Exercise periods are completely voluntary. For retreats held at the Southeast
Queensland cattle and horse ranch, the exercise periods are for unsupervised
activities of your choice. If you elect to have your retreat held in a 4-star
or 5-star resort, exercise activities will be available based on what is available
at that specific resort or near the resort and all activities will be at the
risk of yourself and the resort.
